This track was put together piece by piece with bits of Classic Hip-Hop from the likes of Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature, Krayzie Bone, and of course, The Infamous Mobb Deep:
Tweaking the drums from Marley Marl’s flawless sampling of Grady Tate’s “Be Black Baby,” in this case for Big Daddy Kane’s “Set It Off”, was a challenge, but the loop seemed to fit right in with low and high elements of the instrumental from Naughty By Nature’s Classic “Uptown Anthem”.
And it goes without stating that Mobb Deep’s notorious (or more accurately, infamous) acapella from “Shook Ones” is always sample-worthy.
And Krayzie Bone’s “Thug Mentality” hook really “tied the room together”, giving us a Bboy Battle song for the cipher and a trivia track for the Hip-Hop heads.
