I had an mp3 of the first half or so of “Da Mystery of Chessboxin” from Wu-Tang Clan’s 36 Chambers: Enter the Wu-Tang album for the longest time, and one day it dropped into flex mode in Logic, found it’s way up to 130 BPM (roughly) and this beat materialized around it.
As a multi-decade Wu fan, I really enjoyed working on one of their most loved early joints and melding it with the club sound of the day. I think the U-GOD’s samples of “Raw I’m a give it to ya, with no trivia, roll like cocaine straight from Bolivia” and then “Hip-hop will rock and shock the nation” fell so perfectly into place, and of course the microwave bell has to set it off at just the right moment.
If only the acapella I had would have included the last verses… but dope nonetheless, in my opinion of course.
